Burning a Quran Does Not Make Jesus Happy

I’m perturbed. I’m outraged. I’m frustrated.

It’s happened again.

Another Christian has made a bad name for all American Christians by doing something insane and hateful. By burning a Quran.

The ridiculous part is that the church held a “trial” and found the Quran “guilty” and thus subject to punishment. Read more about it here.

The story goes on. Word got out internationally, and now Afghans have rioted and killed at least 20 people, including 7 American workers. President Obama agreed that the church should not have burned the Quran, but he also said that Afghans should not have retaliated so brutally.
(Read more on the Afghan violence here.) I agree, but I have to admit that it was a U.S. church that started the controversy.

It’s no wonder that it’s unpopular to be a Christian in America nowadays.

Since I’m fighting the temptation to go into a judgmental rage (which is also not a Christlike action), I will end this with these two quotes from St. John Chrysostom:

“Poor human reason, when it trusts in itself, substitutes the strangest absurdities for the highest divine concepts.”

“God has put into every man’s heart the capacity to love his neighbors.”

Oh I love that first quote. It always blows me away when people think that their flawed human reasoning should be able to understand God’s infinite wisdom.

I hadn’t heard about this, but the title of the post caught my eye. Its idiots like this and the Wesboro cult (I refuse to call them a church) that are doing the devils work. Because really its not the athiests who make people hate Christians its the fake/false christians.
