Book Month Challenge Day 3: Book That Makes You Laugh

This entry is part 3 of 31 in the series Book Month Challenge (2012)

Confessions of a Scary Mommy by Jill Smokler

Jill Smokler has a hilarious blog called Scary Mommy where she invites frazzled moms to anonymously post their crazy parenting confessions. (e.g. “I tell my kids that if they lie to me, all their teeth will fall out.” And this gem: “I don’t like the summer school break, because the kids think they should be allowed to stay up later, and Mommy just wants to have her drink in peace!) She also writes about motherhood in a way that puts you at ease and takes the pressure off. Think parenting meets fun meets snark. Okay, I gotta admit I haven’t actually read this book yet (thus qualifying it for Day # 23). But I want to. And I’ve ready enough of Scary Mommy’s blog posts to know that when I read the book, I’ll laugh out loud. I may even snort.

(Note to self: Read more funny books.)

What book makes you laugh?

And don’t forget to check out Karla’s answer today!

I can remember laughing out loud while reading a “Confederacy of Dunces” by John Kennedy Toole, but that may be because of my life experiences, the people I have known and I lived in Baton Rouge and worked with an office in New Orleans for almost a year before I married.

I also find the P.G. Wodehouse “Jeeves and Wooster” novels to be hilarious. Mark and I enjoyed “The Code of the Woosters” so much that we collected cow creamers when we were first married!

I’ve just posted the funniest books I can remember reading and I realize that it has been a long time since I read a funny book. So I am also making a note to self: read more funny books, thanks Karissa!

This challenge has already been hard! I feel like people will be judging the books I have read or not read (and what I can even remember!) but it has been fun. Also it was cool we picked the same first one but your next 2 I have not even heard of so it will be a cool way to maybe find some new reads 🙂
