One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss
I have read this book to my kids SO many times! I’m pretty sure I can quote the entire book now. My kids never tire of Dr. Seuss, which I love. I love the theme of “funny things are everywhere” in this book. No judgment, just yep, there are lots of different creatures in the world. My kids and I also enjoy the parts about your mom and dad:
Some are sad, and some are glad,
And some are very, very bad.
Why are they sad and glad and bad?
I do not know, go ask your dad.
and
Some are fast. Some are slow.
Some are high. Some are low.
Not one of them is like another.
Don’t ask us why, go ask your mother.
Here I always say: “Don’t ask me! I don’t know! You’ll have to ask another mother.”
It’s best to read this book at bedtime because of the last stanza:
And now, Good night.
It is time to sleep
So we will sleep with our pet Zeep.
Today is gone. Today was fun.
Tomorrow is another one.
Every day, from here to there.
funny things are everywhere.
After that I always say, “So where’s your Zeep?” and my son giggles.
What book can you quote?
And read Karla’s post here.
Goodnight Moon! by Margaret Wise Brown
Where the Wild Things Are! It was Zac’s favorite book for a long time! “i’ll eat you up I love you so.”
